In nature
Hungarian traditions in Transylvania (culture); Wildlife

The road forks at the edge of a large hill, heading left towards the mountain top. Following the path we climb upwards, the panorama becoming wider and wider. The last stretch below the top makes us feel that we are conquering the highest peak of the Harghita mountain range. On the way out, a forest of headstones and crosses, wooden statues and shamanic columns, as well as small and large stone caves, testify that we have arrived at a very important pilgrimage site for the Szekler and Hungarian communities. The horizon covers almost the entire Transylvanian Basin.- (inspiration: www.madarasihargita.ro)

The Sapixel International Photography Contest is once again organised by the kHÖK, but this time in the form of a special edition in cooperation with the KMDSZ.

The themes of our special edition are based on topic Copy Tweet. After the confinement caused by the epidemic, which has become trivialised and boring for everyone, many of desired/still desire to return to nature. While we were surrounded by four walls, nature has in many ways revived itself and revitalised many of us following our 'freedom'.

Putting accent on local culture at the and preserving its values should be important for all of us. The colourful palette of our traditions serves as a kind of pillar, in this case for the Hungarians and for the Hungarians in Transylvania. Our traditions tell a story about our past, present and future. With this in mind we believe it is important to embrace, keep alive and showcase our traditions.
With a view to enrich our photographic culture, we want to encourage local talent in particular. Therefore this theme is a local call. We would like to reach out to Transylvanian artists, young people and highlight our Hungarian heritage and their timeless values through their photographs.
Of course, we also welcome applications from non-Transylvanian artists whose works can be included in the caption of the theme.
If you are not from Transylvania, please read the 2nd (second) point of the Important Information section carefully!

Action to conserve wildlife is attracting increasing attention and interest from around the world. Many people are doing more and more to protect nature. We would like to raise awareness of endangered species, the issues that affect them, the need to protect our nature and last but not least, the main virtue of nature: it works and creates according to its own laws. We would like to give everyone (wherever they live) the opportunity to make their voice heard on this important issue through the entries they submit and even to stimulate reflection by raising new questions.
