ADMISSION CALENDAR

With us, you will:

  • Access and use our laboratory and its materials as a first-year student.
  • Go on outings to Greece, national parks, and reservations.
  • Learn about your environment and how to protect it.
  • Measure climate change and the effects of waste management.
  • Become professionally proficient at taking chemical and biological measurements or at performing geological research.

Our goal:

Our program’s goal is to train professionals who are able to evolve with the field of environmental science, find effective solutions to environmental problems, and contribute to the development of a healthy natural world.

Main Subjects:

In the first year, students master the fundamentals of environmental science in geography, physics, chemistry, biology, and geology. This course of study ensures that even students who didn’t graduate from STEM programs in their secondary schools are up to speed with their counterparts by the end of the first year. In the second year, students learn about environmental problems and phenomena, studying environmental geography, environmental physics, environmental chemistry, ecology, and environmental geology. Third-year students choose classes to deepen their knowledge in the laboratory, field, theory of environmental science, or study of environmental impacts.

Employment Opportunities:

With the European Union’s focus on environmental protection and regulation, relevant job opportunities exist in administrative roles (such as in regional and local councils) and at environmental agencies, public health agencies, laboratories, and NGOs. Graduates also often find jobs in the private sector as consultants, or at universities as professors or researchers.

Special Events:

The annual, international Carpathian Basin Conference for Environmental Sciences, as well as the various student scientific conferences and professional workshops that Sapientia either hosts or participates in give students the opportunity to present their research results, deepen their understanding of the environmental problems Europe faces, and exchange technical experience with Romanian and international professionals.

Educational Outings:

Our program places special emphasis on practical training. Right from the outset students are encouraged to take part in their professors’ research and the many ongoing research papers and fieldwork opportunities at Sapientia. On educational excursions, which we often organise to Budapest, Debrecen, Nyíregyháza, etc., students get a chance to familiarise themselves with the work and research taking place at other educational institutions in the region, and they are introduced to and take part in the European environmental sciences community. On field trips, students learn how to store, tabulate, and interpret natural data they themselves collect, such as water samples off the coast of Greece or the mineral content of the Eastern Carpathian mofettes. They can also be assured of outings to the Turda gorge and the Cheile Bicazului - Hășmaș National Park.

Admission Criteria:

  1. Motivational conversation: obligatory
  2. Baccalaureat exam grade - 100%
